University of Louisiana at Monroe: merit scholarships by ACT score
University of Louisiana at Monroe awards automatic merit aid from a published grid crossing ACT score with GPA. Awards start at an ACT of 20 and reach $12,100 a year. Because the bands are steps rather than a slope, one point is worth nothing inside a band and the whole step at the edge of one.
Enter a score and a GPA below to see which band it actually lands in, what that band pays, and exactly how many points the next one needs.

ULM's advertised totals blend its own money with Louisiana TOPS state money — the $22,065 top row is $12,000 from ULM and $10,065 of estimated TOPS, which out-of-state families receive none of. Only ULM's figures are shown. Half of ULM's own award is also a housing credit that requires living on campus and never becomes a refund. The grid is headed 2026-2027 and all its deadlines have passed, with no 2027-2028 grid published yet. And ULM never actually uses the word 'automatic' or 'guaranteed' about this grid, though nothing on the page contradicts it either.
Unweighted, as the school asks for it.

Example — an ACT 29 with a 3.60 GPA
Academic Excellence
$3,250 academic award, plus a $3,250 housing award if you live on campus / year
About $13,000 over four years, if it renews.
What the next points are worth
1 more point (a 30) moves you to President's Distinguished — $5,000 academic award, plus a $5,000 housing award if you live on campus a year. That is $1,750 more a year, or $7,000 over four years.
The question isn't whether a point is worth having. It's whether they can move it — which starts with knowing exactly which questions they're missing, and why.

GPA 3.5-4.0
The GPA used is the SIXTH-SEMESTER GPA, so the award is set on the transcript through junior year. The housing award matches the academic award pound for pound at this GPA band — but only if the student lives on campus.

Out-of-State Warhawk Scholarship — a fee waiver that stacks on top
The one ULM award with a hard subscore gate, and the one that states its own unit. It stacks with the academic grid, and note the floor: the waiver needs an ACT of 21, so a student in the 20-22 academic band only reaches it at 21 or 22.
This fee waiver is valued at $6,050 per semester, or $12,100 per year

Does ULM superscore for scholarships?
Yes. Yes, and named for scholarship eligibility specifically rather than for admission. ULM also publishes its own ACT-to-SAT conversion chart.
“The highest ACT Composite/Super Score, or SAT Total Score is used to determine scholarship eligibility.”
So the number that matters here is your superscore, not your best single test. Work out your superscore and look that score up in the grid above — it may sit a band higher than the one you have been planning around.

ULM scholarship deadlines
| Entry term | Due |
|---|---|
| Priority admission deadline (this cycle, now passed) | May 1, 2026 |
| All official test scores received (now passed) | May 31, 2026 |
Scores take roughly two to four weeks to arrive, and official reports sent to schools can take longer, so the last useful test date is several weeks before the printed deadline. Check which test dates still make it.
Where these numbers came from
Every figure on this page was read from University of Louisiana at Monroe’s own published pages, linked below with the date we last confirmed them. We do not estimate a missing band or interpolate a value.

- The housing award is a voucher, not money: ULM says it 'will not roll over into a refund. It will only be used to cover residence hall and meal plan', and the student must live on campus.
- The Out-of-State Warhawk waiver carries a genuine SUBSCORE gate — ACT English of at least 15 and ACT Math of at least 16 on top of a 21 composite. Almost no grid in this dataset reaches below the composite like that.
- TOPS figures on ULM's page are explicitly 'estimates based on prior academic year', and ULM notes that TOPS requirements differ from its own.
- There is a cost-of-attendance clawback: if total aid exceeds it, ULM reduces aid in a stated order ending with state scholarships including TOPS.
- Online degree programmes are excluded outright, and switching to one after the first semester cuts the scholarship by 50%.
- A student receives only one Freshman Academic Scholarship, and declining it forfeits it for all future semesters.
- A 30 to 32 pays the same ULM money as a 31 to 32 — the separate rows on ULM's page differ only in the state TOPS estimate, which is excluded here, and ULM's own out-of-state table prints the band merged as 30-32.
- Scores at 30 and above earn a laptop, and 33 and above add a study abroad stipend of 'up to $4,500' from a donor fund — perks rather than contractual aid.
- The international grid is keyed to the SAT only, with no ACT bands at all, and pays different amounts from the domestic one.
- ULM is silent on the Enhanced ACT; its bands are ACT composite plus, for the waiver, English and Math subscores.

Frequently asked questions
What ACT score do you need for a scholarship at ULM?
Automatic merit aid at University of Louisiana at Monroe starts at an ACT composite of 20, alongside the published GPA minimum, and reaches $12,100 a year at the top of the 3 grids it publishes. The bands are steps rather than a slope, so the only score that matters is the next threshold above where you are now.
Is ULM test-optional?
Not recorded. ULM defers its admission standards to a catalog page that is bot-protected and returns an empty response, so no admission test policy could be read from a verifiable source. ULM does say applicants who miss the requirements are reviewed individually. For merit aid the answer is different: required, and stated in six words. There is no test-optional merit path at ULM, and only official scores sent electronically are accepted. Being admitted without a score and qualifying for money without a score are two separate questions.
How much is a 30 on the ACT worth at ULM?
On ULM's published grid for 2026-27 entry, an ACT of 30 with a 3.6 GPA qualifies for GPA 3.5-4.0 — President's Distinguished at $5,000 a year, about $20,000 over four years if it renews; Out-of-State Warhawk Scholarship — a fee waiver that stacks on top — Out-of-State Warhawk Scholarship at $12,100 a year, about $48,400 over four years if it renews.
How much is one more ACT point worth at ULM?
The most valuable single point on ULM's published grid is 29 to 30, at a 3.0 GPA: it moves the award by $2,000 a year, or $8,000 across a four-year degree on the GPA 3.0-3.49 grid. The same point is worth less at other GPAs, and most points move nothing at all — the grid steps rather than slopes, which is why the only score worth aiming at is the next threshold.
Does ULM superscore the ACT for scholarships?
Yes. Yes, and named for scholarship eligibility specifically rather than for admission. ULM also publishes its own ACT-to-SAT conversion chart. The highest ACT Composite/Super Score, or SAT Total Score is used to determine scholarship eligibility.
When are ULM scholarship deadlines?
Priority admission deadline (this cycle, now passed): May 1, 2026. All official test scores received (now passed): May 31, 2026. The application and the official score report are both due by that date, and ACT scores take roughly two to four weeks to arrive — so the last useful test date is several weeks earlier than the deadline suggests.

You know what a score is worth at ULM. The question is whether you can move it.
A grid tells you the target. It does not tell you which questions are costing the points between here and there. That takes about three minutes to find out.
