The University of Toledo: merit scholarships by GPA
The University of Toledo awards automatic merit aid from a published grid keyed to GPA — the ACT is not used. Awards start at a 3.0 GPA and reach $8,000 a year. Because the bands are steps rather than a slope, a hundredth of a GPA point is worth nothing inside a band and the whole step at the edge of one.
Enter a GPA below to see which band it actually lands in, what that band pays, and what the next band needs.

UToledo states outright that ACT and SAT scores are not considered for merit scholarships — a higher score is worth nothing here. It also publishes no tiers: the award is a single range from $1,250 to $8,000 against a 3.0 GPA floor, with no published rule for where in that range a student lands. Automatic only if you apply by the January 19 priority date; after that, awards are offered 'as funds are available'.
Unweighted, as the school asks for it.

Merit Scholarship
Between $1,250 and $8,000 a year, with no published rule for placement
UToledo awards this on GPA alone, so an ACT score does not change it. A higher score can still matter for admission, for honours programmes, and at other schools on the list — but not for this award.
The ACT doesn't move the money here — but it still decides admission, honours eligibility, and what they is worth at the other schools on the list, where most awards are score-keyed.

Out-of-state students — Rocket Nation Scholarship
Stacks on top of the merit scholarship rather than replacing it, and offsets an out-of-state surcharge UToledo puts at about $9,360 a year. Michigan residents are treated as in-state from Fall 2026 and do not need it.

Does UToledo superscore for scholarships?
Not applicable rather than unknown: scores play no part in merit here, so there is no superscore policy to have.
With nothing published, plan for the stricter reading: look up your best single sitting in the grid above, work out your superscore as well, and ask UToledo’s financial aid office which one they read before you count on the higher band.

Where these numbers came from
Every figure on this page was read from The University of Toledo’s own published pages, linked below with the date we last confirmed them. We do not estimate a missing band or interpolate a value.
- The award is described as renewable, but no renewal GPA or credit-hour requirement is published on the scholarship page.
- UToledo guarantees the rate: tuition, housing and meal-plan rates in year four match year one.
- Residents of Michigan are treated as in-state students beginning in Fall 2026.
- The $28,000 Presidential Scholarship is competitive and not on this grid — it needs a 3.8 GPA, an extracurricular résumé, a personal essay and three short essays, and is decided by a selection committee. It carries no ACT requirement either.
- The Levis Leadership Scholarship is capped at forty students a year.
- UToledo hedges its own automatic language with 'Most first-time freshmen', and adds that after January 19 merit scholarships are offered as funds are available.
- UToledo is silent on the Enhanced ACT, which follows from not using the ACT at all.

What ACT score do you need for a scholarship at UToledo?
The University of Toledo publishes a merit aid grid keyed to ACT score and GPA. See the tables on this page for the current bands.
Is UToledo test-optional?
Not stated on any UToledo page found. For merit aid the answer is different: not used, stated twice and without qualification. Submitting a score cannot raise a UToledo merit award. Being admitted without a score and qualifying for money without a score are two separate questions.
How much is a 30 on the ACT worth at UToledo?
On UToledo's published grid for 2027-28 entry, an ACT of 30 with a 3.6 GPA qualifies for Out-of-state students — Rocket Nation Scholarship — Rocket Nation Scholarship at $8,000 a year, about $32,000 over four years if it renews.
