Columbus State University: merit scholarships by ACT score
Columbus State University awards automatic merit aid from a published grid crossing ACT score with GPA. Awards start at an ACT of 26. Because the bands are steps rather than a slope, one point is worth nothing inside a band and the whole step at the edge of one.
Enter a score and a GPA below to see which band it actually lands in, what that band pays, and exactly how many points the next one needs.

Both awards are Georgia state programmes administered through Columbus State rather than university money, they are limited to Georgia residents, and they are reduced by other tuition assistance. The deciding figure is the state-calculated HOPE GPA from the required high school curriculum, not the transcript average. Columbus State publishes no automatic institutional merit grid of its own — its Presidential, Tower and University awards all require an Honors College application.
Unweighted, as the school asks for it.

HOPE Scholarship

There is no higher band to reach at this GPA — more points would not change the award here. They may still matter for admission, for honours programmes, or at other schools on the list.
Knowing where a score sits is the easy part. Moving it starts with knowing exactly which questions they're being missed, and why.

Is Columbus State test-optional?
For admission, largely yes. Below a 3.0 the requirement is a 17 in English or Reading and a 17 in Maths. The waiver has a stated end date.
For money, no. A 26 is what separates HOPE's partial tuition from Zell Miller's full tuition. HOPE itself needs no score, and valedictorian or salutatorian status reaches Zell Miller without one. A family that reads “test-optional” and skips the ACT can be admitted and still walk away from every dollar on the grid below.
“SAT/ACT test score requirements are waived for freshmen with a 3.0 or higher in their Required High School Curriculum through Summer 2027.”

Georgia residents — HOPE and Zell Miller
Marked automatic for those meeting the criteria. Zell Miller also has a valedictorian route that no score reaches, so it is in the notes rather than a band; HOPE needs no score. Both run up to 127 attempted hours within ten years of high school graduation.

Does Columbus State superscore for scholarships?
No. Zell Miller requires the 26 "on a single test", so a composite assembled across two sittings does not meet it.
This matters more than it sounds. A student whose superscore crosses a band but whose best single sitting does not will be paid on the lower band. Look up your best single sitting in the grid above, then find what is costing you points on one test.

Columbus State scholarship deadlines
| Entry term | Due |
|---|---|
| Fall priority admission | April 15 |
| Fall regular admission | June 30 |
| HOPE and Zell Miller application | By the last day of exams of the term |
Scores take roughly two to four weeks to arrive, and official reports sent to schools can take longer, so the last useful test date is several weeks before the printed deadline. Check which test dates still make it.

- Honors College scholarshipsverified 2026-10-25
- Columbus State publishes no automatic institutional merit grid; these are Georgia state awards.
- A 26 with a 3.7 reaches Zell Miller's full standard tuition rate.
- HOPE covers tuition at a 3.0 and needs no score at all.
- So the ACT is worth the difference between partial and full tuition here.
- Zell Miller requires the 26 on a single test — it will not superscore.
- Valedictorian or salutatorian status with a 3.0 reaches Zell Miller without any score — a rank condition no lookup can check, so it is not a band here.
- The deciding GPA is the state-calculated HOPE GPA, not the transcript average.
- Georgia residents only, and both awards are reduced by other tuition assistance.
- Columbus State's own Presidential, Tower and University awards all need an Honors College application, so none is a band here.
